When I attempted this genre for the first time, I faced several challenges. Firstly, I had to get used to a heavy, long-zoom lens. Secondly, I had to find the right subject, typically larger birds, to make the photo more engaging. Lastly, I had to ensure the background wasn't too busy to distract from the subject. These were just a few obstacles I encountered.

Try to get close to a wild creature or suggest how to pose...

Coming from event and family photography experience, where the people are close and engaging, is a lot different than a bird from a distance. However, the technics are invaluable and adaptable to the craft of a professional portrait photographer.

Not to mention that I had a great time.
